wtec Joins Siemens Xcelerator Ecosystem to Boost IP-Based Smart Building Solutions

wtec GmbH, the company behind smartengine technology, has joined the Siemens Xcelerator ecosystem. The partnership integrates IP-based lighting and multisensor solutions into Siemens Building X and Desigo CC, giving building owners access to real-time intelligence for energy efficiency, reduced operating costs, and scalable ESG goals.

wtec Joins Siemens Xcelerator Ecosystem to Boost IP-Based Smart Building Solutions

High-Resolution Data for Smarter Buildings

At the core of the partnership is the integration of smartengine's software-defined light-management and fine-mesh multisensor data into Siemens Building X and Desigo CC. smartengine transforms lighting infrastructure into an IP-based data and control platform, delivering real-time, historic, and deviation-based data on occupancy, energy, temperature, and indoor air quality.

This significantly expands the data depth available to Siemens platforms, enabling more precise room automation, optimized HVAC and lighting control, improved space utilization, and healthier indoor environments.

smartengine Lighting Management as an Extended Building X Capability

The smartengine Lighting Management System (LMS) is positioned for integration as a standalone application within the Building X Launchpad. Customers benefit from advanced, sensor-driven network-lighting control embedded directly into Siemens' digital building environment—fully IP-based, open, and compatible with all major luminaire manufacturers.

The result is one of the most energy-efficient, network-powered lighting and sensing solutions available for commercial buildings and Data Centres today—while enabling faster deployment and equal or lower total cost compared to traditional lighting control and automation approaches.

IP-Based Standard for Lighting, Occupancy, Indoor Air Quality and RTLS

smartengine is positioned as a standard solution for IP-based lighting management, occupancy analytics, indoor air quality, and real-time location services (RTLS) across new developments, modernizations, and large-scale portfolios. Using bi-directional Bluetooth technology, smartengine supports indoor positioning, wayfinding, and asset tracking, including integration with RTLS solutions such as Synapses BlueGPS, a Siemens Xcelerator ecosystem partner.

The technology is globally deployed and operates consistently across regions, even where different electrical standards apply—making it ideally suited for multinational real estate owners and operators.

Joint Go-To-Market and Innovation

wtec and Siemens will jointly address customers, combining Siemens' global reach with wtec's specialized expertise in IP-based lighting and sensor infrastructure.

Showcasing at Light + Building 2026

The integrated solutions will be showcased at Light + Building 2026 in Frankfurt at the Siemens Smart Infrastructure / Building Technologies booth, where visitors can experience live demonstrations of:

  • Building X dashboards enriched with fine-mesh, real-time occupancy, energy, and indoor air quality data from smartengine
  • Best-in-class smartengine lighting control, featuring sensor-driven automation, agile space reconfiguration, daylight harvesting, and advanced energy-saving strategies
